Skype meltdown…

Skype stopped working today. It’s a huge meltdown and I noticed (after now + 8 hours without Skype), that I am completely dependent on this channel of communication. I recently merged all my friends, colleagues and family members from AIM, Yahoo messenger and Google Talk to Skype. We had to switch to the good old land line today to talk to one of our researchers at UCR in California (ironically, our connection was dropped several times during the one hour phone conference). I even stopped using international phone cards to contact my family in Europe and feel pretty disconnected today.

UPDATE on 08/21/2007

I just received a very apologetic email from Skype who offered every user a 7 day extension for their paid services. Not bad… just about 5 days too late 😦
