First Government Twitter case study

Twitter has posted the first Government case study. USGS is posting and listening to people who are reporting earthquakes on Twitter.

Here is the description from the Twitter blog:

The USGS is automatically gathering, summarizing, and mapping earthquake tweets to provide a rapid overview of what people experienced during an earthquake. Our Twitter-based application provides tweet counts for affected cities and lists the tweets generated immediately following the event.

Previously, I served as Assistant and then Associate Professor (with tenure) at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, NY.
